In the heart of North Brisbane, a quiet revolution is unfolding. TaskABLE Co-operative Ltd is challenging assumptions about disability, work and community by creating a space where every task is an opportunity for growth.
Founded on the belief that doing nothing was not an option, TaskABLE emerged to bridge the gap between post-school training and meaningful employment for young adults with intellectual disabilities. What began as a sole trader micro-enterprise has evolved into a non-distributing, not-for-profit co-operative, where every member contributes with pride and purpose.

TaskABLE offers task-based services that are co-created with its associate members, young adults who bring energy, authenticity and joy to every job. Whether it’s recycling runs, document handling, community errands or inclusive cycling, each task is designed to build skills, confidence and connection. The co-op’s flagship initiative, POSSabilities Cycling, exemplifies this ethos, providing accessible movement and social engagement through recumbent trikes, adult trikes and modified bikes.
At its core, TaskABLE is built on relational integrity, inclusive participation and shared growth. Families, mentors, volunteers and local business partners form a supportive ecosystem that enables the co-op to thrive. The result is a model of work that’s not just productive, it’s transformative.
As we celebrate the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, TaskABLE stands as a beacon of what’s possible when values lead the way. It’s not just about tasks completed, it’s about lives enriched, voices heard and communities strengthened.
TaskABLE’s journey reminds us that inclusion isn’t a checkbox, it’s a practice. And when that practice is rooted in purpose, the impact is profound.
