Baptist Insurance Services (BIS) is a ministry of Australian Baptist Ministries and operates as a delegated body of the National Council. Established in 1984, BIS began in Victoria and gradually expanded to serve Baptist communities across every state and territory. Today, it is a national scheme providing protection for property and assets valued at over $5 billion, serving more than 1,350 constituents.
BIS works with international insurance brokers and licensed insurers to deliver a wide range of cover, including:
- Discretionary Mutual Fund
- General Liability
- Professional Indemnity
- Management Liability
- Employment Practices
- Cyber Protection
- Personal Accident
- Corporate Travel
- Motor Vehicle
- Student Personal Accident
- Student Travel
- Marine Hull
BIS combines the expertise of its Board and staff with strong partnerships in the insurance sector to offer risk protection that is both comprehensive and competitively priced. As the holder of Australian Financial Services Licence No. 514857, BIS provides general advice on and arranges general insurance products through its Insurance Program.
All policies are placed with licensed underwriters and are accessible at any time for review or clarification. Copies of policy wordings and Certificates of Currency are available to constituents upon request, free of charge.
Through this model, BIS helps safeguard the assets of the Baptist community, allowing churches and ministries to focus critical resources on their mission, not on managing risk.
