APS Benefits Group began over 120 years ago as a funeral fund for public service workers. What began as a simple, community-focused initiative has grown into a national profit-for-member organisation, now supporting over 30,000 members across the country.
As an APS member, you automatically receive a funeral benefit, giving you and your loved ones one less thing to worry about when you are no longer here. It’s our way of helping ease the financial burden so your family can focus on what matters most. As a profit-for-member organisation, we exist solely to support our members which means the profits we make are reinvested into member benefits, including the opportunity to receive annual bonuses on your funeral benefit.
Today, we not only have funeral benefit memberships but also offer more than 25 other friendly services, including loans, tax and accounting, financial planning, wills and legal services. What our members love most is our unwavering focus on people. We’re not here to push products or maximise profits. We’re here to make life easier, fairer and more secure for more Australians. Whether you’re saving for something important, planning for retirement, or simply trying to navigate life’s challenges, our team is here with expert guidance and genuine care.
The heart of APS lies in its community spirit. Through the APS Benevolent Fund, we extend support to those who need it most, including children and families living with cerebral palsy through our partnership with the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre (CPEC). It’s one of many ways we give back, staying true to our mutual roots and putting people before profit.
Even as we continue to grow, what our members value most remains the same; friendly, personal service that feels more like talking to a neighbour than dealing with a bank or big institution.
